This has a real cotton lining and that's one of the main reasons we bought this. We washed it right away as we do with anything we buy for the baby. After washing, expect a lot of wrinkles as this is made out of common. That's not a flaw. You can certainly steam iron it on a low setting if you are concerned about wrinkles. This should keep the baby really warm in the car seat or when you walk the baby in a stroller. Overall, very happy with the purchase. You can see the picture of the label which lists this having a cotton lining with a polyester backing which is needed to add that thickness. The colors do appear to be very milder than advertised (see the difference between my pictures and compare them with that of product images). It could be because of differences in lighting but I'm not too concerned about colors. I'm more concerned about the quality of the materials but of course they have to look good. Very content with the purchase so far.
It thicker then most I've seen and stays in place great. Baby stayed warm when I used it today!!
